Í tengslum við tónleika þýska málmblásarahópsins APPARAT á Myrkum músíkdögum í ár hefur hópurinn haldið vinnusmiðjur við tónlistardeild Listaháskóla Íslands. Þar hafa tónsmíðanemendur fengið að starfa með hópnum að mótun nýrra verka sem nemendur hafa samið fyrir hópinn undir leiðsögn Matthiasar Engler, slagverksleikara. Á tónleikunum fá að hljóma ný verk nemenda í hljóðfæratónsmíðum.

As part of this year’s Dark Music Days festival, the German brass ensemble APPARAT has been collaborating with composition students from the Iceland University of the Arts in a series of creative workshops. Under the guidance of percussionist Matthias Engler, the students have developed new works written especially for the ensemble.

This concert presents the premiere performances of these fresh and inventive compositions, showcasing the next generation of Icelandic composers and their dialogue with one of Europe’s most adventurous brass groups.

Þýski málmblásarahópurinn Apparat hefur aðsetur sitt í Berlín en starfar jafnt alþjóðlega í heimi samtímatónlistar. Hópurinn er í kjarnann kvartett sem starfar náið með tónskáldum, hljóðlistafólki, spunaflytjendum og öðrum málmblástursleikurum búsettum í Berlín og flytur fjölbreytta tónlist af mismunandi stærðargráðum og í ólíkum formum. Hópurinn hefur haldið viðburði á tónleikastöðum á borð við Philharmonie Luxembourg og Akademie der Künste í Berlín og kom árið 2024 fram á fjölda evrópskra tónlistarhátíða, þar á meðal Ultraschall Festival Berlin, Eclat Festival Stuttgart og Klang Festival Copenhagen ásamt tónleikaröðinni KM28 í Berlín. APPARAT hefur komið fram ásamt EnsembleKollektiv Berlin á hátíðum líkt og Musikfest og MaerzMusik á vegum Berliner Festspiele.

Listaháskóli Íslands er skóli allra listgreina. Í Listaháskóla Íslands eru sjö deildir, en innan þeirra eru starfræktar bæði námsleiðir á bakkalárstigi og á meistarastigi. Uppbygging Listaháskólans hefur verið hröð síðan rekstur hans hófst 1999. Í samræmi við yfirlýsinguna frá 24. mars 1999 hóf skólinn kennslu í leiklist haustið 2000 og í tónlist 2001. Listaháskólinn er eini háskólinn á fræðasviði lista á Íslandi og hefur því víðtæku hlutverki að gegna gagnvart landsmönnum. Skólinn er einstakur á alþjóðavísu að því leyti að námsframboð er afar fjölbreytt en nemendur eru hlutfallslega fáir í samhengi við námsframboð. Listaháskólinn er vettvangur fyrir nútímalega listsköpun og samfélag þar sem áhersla er lögð á að skerpa sköpunargáfu nemenda. Skólinn tekur virkan þátt í þjóðlífinu og tengir um leið íslenskan menningargrunn alþjóðlegu umhverfi lista og menningar með fjölbreyttum nemendahópi og samstarfi við erlenda listaháskóla.

Apparat is a Berlin-based brass ensemble dedicated to contemporary music. Rooted in a core quartet, the ensemble collaborates with composers, sound-artists, improvisers, and a cohort of unique Berlin-based brass instrumentalists in the presentation of work ranging widely in scale and format. Having presented programs in venues such as the Philharmonie Luxembourg and Berlin’s Akademie der Künste, in 2024 the ensemble appeared at a series of festivals including the Ultraschall Festival Berlin, Eclat Festival Stuttgart, and the Klang Festival Copenhagen, alongside concluding an eight-concert series at Berlin’s KM28. In the context of EnsembleKollektiv Berlin, the ensemble has appeared in Musikfest and Maerzmusik of the Berliner Festspiele.

Iceland University of the Arts is a school of all art forms. IUA has seven faculties, which operate both bachelor's and master's programmes. The development of the Iceland Academy of the Arts has been rapid since its operation began in 1999. IUA is the only university in the field of arts in Iceland and therefore has a broad role to play towards the people. The University is unique internationally in that the courses offered are very diverse, but the number of students is relatively small in relation to the courses offered. The Iceland University of the Arts is a platform for modern art creation and a community where emphasis is placed on sharpening students' creativity. The University takes an active part in public life and at the same time connects the Icelandic cultural base with the international environment of art and culture through a diverse group of students and collaboration with foreign art universities.
