Sönglagaflokkur M Alberto, MIRA ZUMBI, sækir innblástur víða að, allt frá andlegri naumhyggju og afró-karabískri helgitónlist til þjóðlaga. Verkið er könnun á hinu dulda og stundum forboðna sem skapar óvæntar tengingar milli andlegar arfleiðar Íslands og karabíska hafsins. Með vettvangsrannsóknum og hljóðrannsóknum finnur Dúplum duo endurtengingu – Hugleiðingu um áhrif evrópskrar nýlendustefnu á menningar- og trúarlíf, og um leið lofgjörð til seiglu, minninga og hins heilaga sem leynist í  hversdeginum.

MIRA ZUMBI by M.Alberto reimagines the traditional song cycle through spoken word, song, and live electronics. Drawing on spiritual minimalism, Afro-Caribbean ritual music, and folk traditions, the work uncovers hidden and often forbidden stories linking Caribbean and Icelandic spiritual heritage.

Through field research and sound exploration, Dúplum Duo creates a ritual space for reconnection—reflecting on the impact of European colonialism while celebrating resilience, memory, and the sacred within everyday life.

Dúplum dúó hefur verið starfandi síðan 2017 og skipa þær Björk Níelsdóttur, söngkonu og Þóru Margréti Sveinsdóttur, víóluleikara. Dúplum starfar bæði á Íslandi og í Hollandi þar sem þær hafa veg of vanda af því að flytja íslenska tónlist. Þær kynntust í Tónlistarháskólanum í Amsterdam og eftir að hafa í sitthvoru lagi farið á tónleikaferðalag með fjöldamörgum hjómsveitum m.a. Björk, Sigurrós, Florence and the Machine og Stargaze ákváðu þær að sameina krafta sína. Dúplum dúó leggur áherslur á nútímaljóðlist og nútímaflutning á ljóðasöng. Þær notast einungis við söngrödd og víólu vekja þannig einfalda og óslípaða nánd með flutningi sínum. Dúplum hefur komið fram á mörgum af helstu tónlistarhátíðum í Hollandi og á Íslandi: s.s. Wonderfeel, November Music, Wavelenght, Myrkum Músíkdögum og Sumartónleikum í Skálholti. Dúplum dúó vill gefa áheyrendum innsýn í heim söngljóðalistarinnar og hvernig hún er túlkuð í dag. Dúplum leitast við að draga fram það hráa og viðkvæma í tónlistinni með túlkun sinni og hljóðfæraskipan þar sem bæði rödd og víóla eru jafn réttháar. 

M. Alberto semur tónlist og texta og starfar sem leikhúsgerðarmaður, tónlistarmaður, skáld og listrannsakandi beggja vegna Atlantshafsins. Hann fæddist á Curaçao en býr nú í Hollandi, Alberto ferðast víða og vinnur með listamönnum og listrænum skipuleggjendum, með áherslu á andstöðu og fordóma gegn svörtum, hinsegin, stjórnleysingjum og kynlífsstarfsfólki. Að reyna að brjóta niður nýlendustofnanir „með öllum tiltækum ráðum“.

Dúplum dúó is inspired by modern poetry and contemporary performances of the art song form. Using only voice and viola, Björk Níelsdóttir and Thora Sveinsdóttir evoke a simple, unpolished intimacy.The Iceland-born and Amsterdam-based band challenges the modern art song and how its interpreted today as well as emphasising the raw and intimate soundscape of voice and viola alone.  Dúplum duo started their journey in 2017. Although coming from a classical background both musicians have been active in a broad spectrum of music genres, varying from pop and classical to contemporary music as well as being active in the theatre and opera scene both in Iceland and the Netherlands where the duo resides.  Individually Björk Níelsdóttir and Thora Sveinsdóttir have toured with artists such as Björk, Sigurrós, Florence and the Machines and Stargaze. Emphasising the intimate soundscape with voice and viola alone their quest has been to find new ways to challenge the modern art song.

M. Alberto performs and composes music and words; and works as a theatre-maker, musician-poet and artist-researcher on both sides of the Atlantic. Born in Curaçao and currently based in The Netherlands; M. travels the world, collaborating with organisers and other artists, with a focus on black, queer, anarchist and sex-worker resistance. Seeking to dismantle colonial structures “by any means necessary” - but often from artisanship and radical vulnerability.
