Samstarf Menntaskóla í Tónlist og Myrkra Músíkdaga er ætlað að veita nemendum skólans tækifæri á að kafa ofan í fjölbreyttan heim samtímatónlistarinnar. Sér í lagi tónlist starfandi tónskálda í samtímanum og fá þar liðsauka frá höfundunum sjálfum við að kanna þær ólíku birtingarmyndir sem tónlist tekur sér í samtímanum. 

Á tónleikunum í ár koma fram fjölbreyttir samspilshópar skólans, líkt og flautukór og klarinettukór skólans, sem og opnir samspilshópar. Leikin verða ný og nýleg verk eftir íslensk tónskáld í bland við eldri meistaraverk samtímatónbókmenntanna.

Tónleikarnir eru um klukkustundarlangir, án hlés.

The collaboration between the College of Music and Dark Music Days is intended to give the school’s students the opportunity to explore the varied world of contemporary music. Furthermore they get  into the music of contemporary composers and receive support from the composers themselves in exploring the diverse forms that music takes in the present day.

This year’s concert will feature various ensembles from the school, such as the school's flute and clarinett choirs, as well as other mixed ensembles. They will perform new works by Icelandic composers as well as classics of contemporary and avant garde music.

Menntaskóli í Tónlist er framhaldsskóli stofnaður af Tónlistarskólanum í Reykjavík og Tónlistarskóla FÍH og tók til starfa haustið 2017 og býður upp á nám í bæði rytmískri tónlist, jazz, popp og rokktónlist, og klassískri tónlist. Gefst nemendum kostur á að ljúka námi stúdentsprófs með tónlist sem aðalnámsgrein en skólinn er jafnframt ætlaður þeim sem stunda nám við aðra framhaldsskóla og vilja stunda áhugavert tónlistarnám á framhaldsstigi.

Menntaskóli í Tónlist leitast við að skapa frjótt og fjölbreytilegt umhverfi fyrir efnilega tónlistarnemendur af landinu öllu þar sem þeir fá góða og áhugaverða menntun í tónlistarflutningi, tónsköpun og fræðigreinum tónlistar.

Reykjavík College of Music was founded on the merger of two prestigious music schools in Reykjavík. It opened its doors in the autumn of 2017 and offers studies in both rhythmic music, jazz, pop and rock music, and classical music. Students are given the opportunity to complete a matriculation examination with music as their main subject, but the school is also intended for those who study at other upper secondary schools and want to pursue interesting music studies at the upper secondary level.

Reykjavík College of Music strives to create a fruitful and diverse environment for promising music students from all over the country, where they receive a good and interesting education in music performance, music creation and music disciplines.
